My friend Andrea Gabriel illustrates and authors children's books. (In that order. And the other order. She's amazing.) Andrea is immensely talented and kind and supportive. If you are here, you should go see her work too. Okay. Maybe this is becoming about her, but she was there for me when I was in the deep dark, and pushed me to write and illustrate my own children's book as a way of a life line. I did. It's obliquely very personal. At its heart, it's a letter to my mom, who passed before it was done. If you know my mom only through this, you'll understand the heart of her nature, if not the fullness of her story. (She's the momma pig AND the piglet.)
